This website is continually being updated DIRECTLY by Bruce MacFarlane, Proprietor, not some corporate entity in California by one highly talented English major for the "franchise."
You should expect perfection. This is a business, which means valances should fit evenly against the wall, and all vertical parts should line up to your eye.
Since, Bruce MacFarlane, President and Proprietor scored higher on many standardized tests like the
GMAT: Graduate Management Achievement Test
than most of humanity, you can
expect your product selection experience and installation
process to far exceed ANYTHING you have ever experienced before. (others: S.A.T. A.S.V.A.B. O.S.B ... )
That might seem a little vain, or over the top, but you're free to request my records from University of South Florida, or contact ScottCare regarding my software contributions to the BayFront Heart Center. I have these credentials that few have, so I should mention them.
Graduating from a college, or keeping a challenging software job for over twenty
years shows committment, and success at achieving goals, instead of aimless failure. Most successful entrepreneurs find continual success, because of their committment: to solving the problem, to maintaining positive relationships, and most importantly: keeping their promises.
Our patent pending presentation process can be very free and open to your requirements, or really structured and organized like a classroom session. That choice all depends on you!
Installing blinds SHOULD be really simple, until you try it. Its REALLY IMPORTANT to use the right fittings for whatever wall you have. Measuring can be a simple matter, until brackets are too large to fit in a window. Manufacturers make mistakes, and unless you are clear on their policies, that mistake might be very expensive.
This is an ABOUT PAGE, so sometimes I will communicate in FIRST PERSON, unlike the franchise sites that have been revised by "THE UNKNOWN AI BOT."
When I met with a very successful blinds dealer from
Puerto Rico at the IWCE show, I learned about his "Experience Center."
Blinds have evolved dramatically since 2005,
with motorization,
and dramatic styles that make a new statement.
Sometimes, its just the lack of plastic showing everywhere, with dramatic artful designs, and sleek thin hardware.
(rarely shown in stores)
In order to be successful in this business today, I learned from him, the product and
its presentation need to be more impressive than ever before.
I'm hoping that my customers will be impressed with my complete demonstration samples, worth THOUSANDS of dollars.
I've chosen a balance from low priced and simple presentations
to multiple featured elaborate and expensive selections.
You don't have to spend a FORTUNE to get anything installed!
I've since improved my "presentation van" inside with nice labeled and organized shelving instead of the usual hodge podge pulling of product from all over the place, from the past.
Your home's interior design might require four years of study, but I've found from my over forty-four working years that a home has to be a practical living space. Its easy to make something extremely lean and clean for Architectural Magazine, but someone still has to live within the museum. Your blinds should complement your space to make you feel more relaxed, after all, you are likely to be spending many hours there, or maybe not?
I usually start by asking a client about their budget. I'm not gaining anything by making a prospective client uncomfortable! I can provide many attractive alternatives that far exceed your expectations for a reasonable price. Just a few simple choices and careful measuring decisions can transform your ordinary space into a Tampa Bay Magazine show home, without the extraordinary expense. Its usually wise to spend more money on the mechanicals: the hardware that usually wears out. No interest financing is possible just like the big boys. If the space will only be temporary, it only makes sense to find something cheaper.
It's all about the client. I'm just going to be helpful, without today's expected, disgusting and typical manipulative psychotherapy. Surprisingly, those pressure tactics are NOT everywhere, but have you experienced the "I need to complete the presentation" pitch? Its called pressure.
Our total price has no hidden charges.
Yes, it is easier to offer a better price without a storefront.
This is a BLINDS BUSINESS, not an internet marketing firm so rest

I will keep this brief, but I, Bruce MacFarlane, Proprietor of Home Owners Value have been a professional Computer Programmer since year 1996.
Two thirds of the entire college educated population scored lower on the G.M.A.T. (Graduate Management Achievement Exam) exam during year 1995 in BOTH Math and English, but of course, I already said that :-)
Odds are your favorite top executive management experts have LOWER test scores with LESS real challenging professional computing contributions to anything like heart centers in hospitals. With the current business culture determined to convert the programming community into cheap slave labor, with 60 hour work weeks and unpaid overtime it has become increasingly necessary to build an independent company, of ANY kind, somewhere else.
On a positive note any kind of installer work requires similar attention to detail, with little margin for error. A typical whole home project can easily run several thousand dollars. By now I've learned from unfortunate mistakes that were corrected twenty years ago.
Many walls will not support the weight
of a any drapery :
Instead of using a convenient and weak wallboard mount, which is usually done, its often a lot safer to create an intermediate mounting strip tied to thick wall studs. These mounts are rarely seen, until the whole thing falls down, and a real handyman is called in to correct installation ignorance. This additional strip takes time, and careful measuring. If your drape is hung without a mounting strip, especially in a busy area, its just a matter of time before your luck will run out.
Back around 2004 I created a screensaver: The Animated 3D Museum which was reviewed and saved by tucows. It uses the Microsoft Direct X Library and was written in something called C++ with some trigonometry, and no AI. This is no trivial program with its own 3D game engine. The Internet Archive has stored the web page and, download for posterity. It still runs fine on Windows 11. I can demonstrate it running during an appointment, if you like. It has my name and Wise Owl Games on the setup screen.
Internet Archive of The Animated 3D Museum:
I also have reserved my own domain name, which has been a fun way to show off some of my hobbies, which include digital portraits, electric guitar and fiddle playing.
brucemacfarlane.com :
I've modified software running at the Bayfront Heart Center, Saint Petersburg, Florida and built cabinets out of maple. I enjoy creating art using a program called Corel Painter. Its very addicting and can take up a lot of time if you let it:
Corel Painter Digital Art
I've created a few portraits over the years with Adobe Illustrator. If you like this portrait, I'm CURRENTLY charging $50, and $150 on completion, with some changes when you actually like it. This is how I can illustrate the final appearance of any complex project, TO ANY SCALE in advance.
This price might really grow exponentially, if my illustrations become popular.
I designed the logo for my van. Its six feet long. The preview art for any shade is scaled to any size wall, with usually a background window image.
I recently added two of my original songs on Spotify, and have written about ten more, but have been rather busy with many projects. I hope to complete more songs this year. If you stream my song(s) a million times I will probably earn a dollar or two. Um... its not that lucrative, usually. I'm not the first person to create the art for my record albums. Joni Mitchell comes to mind. She had a stroke, was expected to die, but came back better than ever. And of course, Tony Bennett. What a crooner and his book of art on Amazon is priceless.
We all miss you terribly Tony :-(
Spotify Songs: Getting Our Groove On
I am actually performing installations of shutters, blinds, kitchen cabinets, and even electrical and plumbing MYSELF. Unfortunately, I'm only LICENSED and INSURED to service the general public for blinds: not automotive, not plumbing, not electrical, not anything else.
Here's a shutter panel preview drawn to a scaled photograph. This is not an approximation! The manufacturer may add a louver to compensate for frame size, but these are the exact dimensions to be entered into any ordering system which can be previewed on any laptop.
Protestant Faith :
This company abides by Christian faith. What this means for you is that you can count on this company to always make it right with a normal level of concern that is harder to find in Florida. Remakes and installation issues have been rare but remain possible. Real contractor's insurance protects your building from unforseen damage. Our goal is to always exceed your expectations every time.
Artificial Intelligence:
Are you using chatGPT? Oh FANTASTIC!
I think you will find my use of the English language is shorter, less dramatic, and far more accurate than anything generated by the bot. Go ahead, try my phrases against it! Knock yourself out!
The people using chatGPT to fix their English are all buying blinds at "cheap hardware stores."
:-)
